From press release:
Works by 17 Perrotin artists have entered the collection of the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Georges Pompidou through a joint gift by the gallery and its artists.
23 exceptional artworks have been given by Perrotin and Jean-Marie Appriou, Genesis Belanger, Sophie Calle, Maurizio Cattelan, Johan Creten, Elmgreen & Dragset, Lionel Estève, Bernard Frize, Laurent Grasso, JR, Bharti Kher, Klara Kristalova, Takashi Murakami, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Paola Pivi, Tavares Strachan, and Emma Webster to the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Georges Pompidou.
Selected by museum curators led by Xavier Rey, these artists and artworks offer a wide panorama of contemporary art from the past 20 years. The selection includes artists who were already present in the museum’s collection; artists whose work has been shown in group exhibitions or solo shows; and artists entering the collection for the first time. Representing various nationalities, ages, and artistic practices, the artists selected by the Centre Pompidou form a unique and coherent whole.
These pieces complement the museum’s collection and add new perspectives to its rich history. This donation also marks an important milestone for the gallery: it is another step in a history that began over 30 years ago in Paris and celebrates Perrotin’s ongoing commitment to artists from all over the world.
Beginning in October 2024, these works will be shown on Level 4 of the Centre Pompidou.
