Spotlight #2: Group exhibition with gallery artists

We have the pleasure to present Spotlight #2, a short group exhibition where we introduce current works by a selection of the gallery artists. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome two new artists to the gallery; Bella Rune and Idun Baltzersen.

Idun Baltzersen (b.1987) was born in Trondheim, Norway. She completed her studies at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 2014, and now mostly lives in Stockholm, Sweden. She works with drawing and print making in different scales and techniques, both on paper and fabric. In the exhibition we will present some smaller detailed works, collages of drypoint on paper, and a larger textile work, collage of linocut prints (see the above image). She currently holds a studio grant at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Sweden.

Bella Rune (b.1971) is a professor of textile at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. She works transboundary with sculpture in various forms. She lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden and has most recently co-curated the exhibition Textila Subtexts at Marabouparken, Stockholm, Sweden. At the gallery we will show works from the project Konsekvensanalys that can be experienced both physically and virtually through the app Konsekvensanalys 2.0 (available for free download on App Store or Google Play). The project has previously been shown in different exhibition in museums throughout Sweden.

Lisa Jonasson’s installation Rotpost will be presented in the inner room of the gallery. The installation is a four-channel slide projection with a total of three-hundred-twenty-four slides. Between the glass of the slides lichens, tangled fragments of leafs and seeds are pressed and joined together with details of cut paper. Backlit, they become detailed black and white images in which figures emerge.
On the night of the opening, she will add an overhead projection to the work, improvising with paper cuts and leafs. Matti Kallioinen adds music, improvising on modular synthesizers.
The project is presented in a new publication issued by Nilleditions that will be available at the gallery for purchase.

We will also have a release of the new biography on artist Amy Bennett, published by Black Dog Publishing, London. The book also includes her latest and most extensive series of paintings; Small Changes Every Day. The work depicts how a modern society develops through centuries. The project is currently on display at solo exhibitions in New York (Ameringer McEnery Yohe Gallery) and Los Angeles (Richard Heller Gallery). We are proud to be able to present two new paintings from this series in Stockholm during Spotlight #2.
