Amy Bennett | Showroom presentation

We are delighted to present a selection by paintings of Amy Bennett in the showroom.
The paintings of Amy Bennett depict crucial but elusive moments of everyday life. She studies, processes and recreates passages and fragments of life in paintings that can be compared to short stories. As viewers, we are thrown into environments, contexts and narratives in the core of the event. This frozen process allows reflection and encourages one’s own fantasies and reflections. We stand outside and look into a private sphere that we can recognize from our own lives.
Leading up to a painting, Amy Bennett builds small three-dimensional models. For some works, an entire landscape or a residential area is created, in other cases a small room or a limited space. She constructs the models to scale using simple materials such as styrofoam, cardboard, plastic and paint. In her studio, she can then illuminate the stage and find the exact perspective before she starts painting.
The new reality that arises in painting is at the same time seductively realistic and disturbingly artificial. The careful and laborious work process emphasizes the importance of each individual work and the significance of the story.

Vi har glädjen att visa ett urval av Amy Bennetts målningar i galleriets reception.
Amy Bennetts målningar skildrar avgörande men undflyende ögonblick av vardagen. Hon studerar, bearbetar och återskapar passager och fragment av liv i målningar som kan liknas vid noveller. Som betraktare kastas vi in i miljöer, sammanhang och berättelser mitt i skeendet. Ett fruset förlopp som tillåter eftertanke och uppmuntrar till egna fantasier och associationer. Vi står utanför och tittar in i en privat sfär som vi kan känna igen från våra egna liv.
Inför varje målning bygger Amy Bennett små tredimensionella modeller. Till vissa verk skapas ett helt landskap eller ett bostadsområde, i andra fall ett litet rum eller en avgränsad plats. Hon tillverkar modellerna skalenligt med hjälp av enkla material såsom frigolit, kartong, plast och färg. I sin ateljé kan hon sedan belysa scenen och hitta exakt rätt perspektiv innan hon börjar måla.
Den nya verklighet som uppstår i måleriet är på samma gång förföriskt realistisk och oroväckande konstgjord. Den omsorgsfulla och mödosamma arbetsprocessen betonar vikten av varje enskilt verk och berättelsens betydelse.
