Dan Wolgers | Notes from a Studio
One day in the late summer I was supposed to come up with a work for an exhibition in London. All gallery artists were invited to participate. I had nothing. At least not anything that was meaningful for me. The next day I was at the studio of Evert Lundquist on Drottningholm for a meeting. In this wonderful clutter his reminder notes are still placed around the room. I have seen them before, but never thought of them as something to translate or interpret – they are perfect as they are, recognizable, timeless, finalized and important.
– Here is my contribution for London, I thought. Here are universal formulations and thoughts for a world larger than Drottningholm. Larger than the studio at least, my studio.
Luddes notes in Swedish and mine in English are not the same. Mine are not his, but not mine either. They belong to those who find them of interest. For example, me, anyway.
