Hans Lannér | Ingenstans / No Place
(Scroll down for Swedish version)
Galleri Magnus Karlsson is pleased to present Hans Lannér's second solo exhibition in the gallery. No Place displays new paintings and works on paper.
Hans Lannér paints out of a desire that has grown into a need. He avoids the concept of Art and prefer to talk about painting and drawing, emphasizing the craftsmanship above ideas. How others see him and his work is another thing.
Lannér often talk about the importance of a motif. He cites the colleague, Swedish painter Åke Norlander, who said that “without a motif, I can not draw a single line”. But the motif is only a necessary foundation. A warm-up. Soon it will be forgotten and the painting has its own life. Everyday interiors, exotic locations and personal encounters serves as building blocks for his own landscape where events and moods appear as mirages. Colours are added in thin multiple layers, creating a veiled, dense world full of possibilities. Scales and proportions switches and new meanings are born. Pure light. Stillness. A place we know. Some place or no place.
