Niklas Eneblom | Thousand Layered Colander
Galleri Magnus Karlsson is pleased to announce Niklas Eneblom’s seventh solo exhibition in the gallery. Thousand Layered Colander presents paintings made over the past year.
The title Thousand Layered Colander refers to our need to manage a sometimes malfunctional everyday life with recurrent insufficient repairs. The water flows slowly through the holes of the colander, although there are a thousand layers. It can serve as a picture of survival from day to day or of staying afloat in life.
In the paintings of Niklas Eneblom there has often been references to popular culture as well as a certain emotional distance from the subject. Motifs have carefully been selected from found images online, and personally experienced stories has been told through a cinematic filter. He describes the new exhibition as a big step and a necessary risk. "I have been much closer to my subjects, both physically and emotionally. There are now pictures from my own everyday life with people I care about. "
Despite subjects from everyday life, the paintings holds both epic qualities, existential issues and kitchen sink realism.
By exposing moments from his personal life, stripped from any irrelevant details, the images tenderly approaches the core of the story.
